DESCRIPTION: American Waltham Watch Co.,Waltham, Mass., "Appleton, Tracy & Co.", model 1860 with vibrating hairspring stud, 16 size, 15 jewels, key wind and set gilt plate movement with lever escapement and cut bimetallic balance with gold timing screws in a silver, reeded edge, engine turned hunting case and Roman numeral, single sunk white enamel dial, blued steel spade hands, serial #140296, c1865.
CONDITION: CASE: Case has housed another movement; Minor dent; Minor dings and pin pricks; Minor scratches on outer surface of case; Very fine scratches on inner surface of case; Engine turning worn smooth. DIAL: Two small edge flakes. HANDS: Replaced. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor marks and scratches; Minor spotting and discoloration; Dust guard at winding arbor with area of pitting, surface cleaned; Replaced plate screw; Screws with minor loss to blue; Dirty. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Not running, very gummy, balance staff good, overbanked.
